How it was done
It was actually a rather involved
process to apply the trim pieces. The first thing was to wait for a
warm, sunny day (this was teh real hard part as it was ordered in
March! :). I then laid out the pieces on the dash, shut the windows
up, and let everything bake. Once done, I cleaned all the surfaces to
be covered with laquer thinner. Stinky! Next, I cleaned the residue
off with isopropyl alcohol. After that was comleted, it was time to
apply the supplied primer. It came is a little tube that had an
applicator brush on the end. When that was completed, it was time to
attach the pieces. I peeled the backing off, exposing the 3M
adhesive. Its very sticky stuff; so you only get one shot. Eyeing it
up before hand helps a ton. I removed the HVAC/stereo trim cover and
did that whle it was off the dash; since the pieces were so thin. The
ease of removal helped in that decision as well :)
And that was it..all told it took a
couple hours. Put it this way; I got home at 12:30 that day. I washed
the car; and then decided it was time to tackle this; and still
finished it before dinner :) |
